Home Solutions

1. Know Your Stain

Sunscreens contain oils, minerals, and silicones that cling to fabric. Combined with heat and sweat, they soak deep, making early treatment essential.

2. Blot, Don’t Rub

Gently blot the stained area with a paper towel, sponge or cloth. Rubbing can push the oil deeper into the fibers, making removal even more difficult later.

3. Pre-Treat With Detergent

Apply a liquid detergent or a grease-cutting dish soap directly to the stain. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes to break down the oily residue before washing.

4. Use Warm Water Wash

Wash the garment in warm water (40–60°C). Heat helps dissolve oil-based sunscreen, making it easier for detergent to remove the stain effectively.

5. Choose the Right Cycle

Select a wash program suited for delicate or lightly soiled clothes. A proper cycle prevents damage while giving the stain enough agitation to lift out.

6. Quick Wash for Fresh Stains

If the stain is fresh, a quick wash cycle (around 15 minutes) can be surprisingly effective when combined with pre-treatment and warm water.

7. Double Rinse Helps

Use a double rinse or extra rinse option to make sure all soap and oil residue is fully removed from both the fabric and the washing drum.

8. Air Dry, Don’t Heat

Avoid using a dryer right after washing. Heat can set any remaining stain. Air dry the clothes instead and re-treat if any mark is still visible.
